The D.R. Smith – American Legion

Books-for-Veterans Program

In December of ’08, American Legion and VFW Posts 8, 313, 341, and 680 jointly launched a trial “Christmas Program” to distribute signed copies of Beaches to four V.A. Hospital and Convalescent Centers in Lexington, Ky.

The reception from staff and interned Veterans, including homeless Vets, was an immense success… far more so than anticipated as confirmed by a letter from the Dept. of Veterans Affairs, Ky:

“there are no amount of words to thank you…

the autographed books were an amazing gift to us all”

In honor of Vincent Zecca, the WWII veteran to whom Beaches of Belmont is dedicated, we have agreed to waive all profit and royalties to enable Posts, companies, and individual donor to sponsor book lots at actual cost... a 50% discount to value for a gift-quality, leatherette 1st Edition volume while they last.

We don’t need Christmas to honor our veterans... young or old

Why not join in and sponsor at least a ¼ case... a unique and perpetual gift genuinely cherished by our Veterans; to entertain as well as to help them offset days of loneliness, boredom, or depression long after cake and cookies are gone. It's the least we can do for them.

Only  600  528  First Edition Copies Remain

Each ¼ Case (6 copies) = $75

Full Case lots (24 copies) = $300

We can ship to a Sponsor's preferred Post, Org., or Hospital

For a fully deductible contribution confirmed by letter from American Legion Post 341, you can mail your: Books-for-Veterans Program payment direct to the Commander of American Legion Post 341, 1493 Leestown Rd, Lexington, KY 40511. On behalf of all Posts and our Veterans, we thank you. Cindy Anderson, Pres. Ladies Auxiliary; Post 341
