MEET the AUTHORS

LetterLBadner

Our goal is to provide memorable escapes from the mundane demands of daily life... to spike your imagination, inspire thought and emotion, or in some way induce rewarding interaction with our characters and themes. If so, then mission accomplished.

DRSmith2D.R. Smith: a pseudonym in honor of my grandfather who helped raise me. I grew up on the coast of New England, made Chicago home for most of my adult life, and now live in Kentucky. I have two novels in progress: Tree of the Great Long Leaves; a 1200pg epic exploring the depths of human bonding, and, Dante’s Threshold; an unforeseen twist to mankind’s perception of the prophesied apocalypse. authordrsmith@aol.com

JPowellJerry Powell: I'm the father of eight, grandfather of four, and a retired member of the Dallas Police Force. I currently own a staffing agency, and when time and the muse permit, I enjoy writing novellas and short stories. Though no novels in progress at the moment, I prefer genres in shorter fiction revolving around family, police action, and tales of rural life set along the Arkansas River south of Little Rock.

ButchgrayHarold ‘Butch’ Kempka: I was born in Des Moines, Iowa, and grew up in St. Paul, Minnesota. I joined the Marines after high school, and spent six years on active duty, and awarded three Purple Hearts in Vietnam. After my discharge, I settled in southern California where I now reside with my lovely wife, Celeste, son Derek, and four grandchildren. Aside from this anthology, I’ve a Vietnam-based novel in progress, and have had poetry and short stories published in Leatherneck and Circle magazines.

XinWangXin Wang: I was born in China but moved to the United States at the age of eight. I currently reside in South Carolina in pursuit of a pharmaceutical degree. Before being published, I began writing as a hobby, partly because I realized that it would be a great excuse for putting off things I should be doing, like studying for exams. My other interests include reading, surfing the web, and living life to the fullest.

SarlesRichard Sarles: I was born and raised in a small Illinois town, now living in southern California with my wife, Samantha. As an only child, I wrote and illustrated my first short story at age ten. Adolescence brought with it colorful experiences and characters from rural America which would eventually populate my writings. I excelled in college, graduating near the top my class earning a master’s degree in psychology. I’ve authored several short stories and novellas, and am presently working on my first full-length novel, a sci-fi thriller entitled, Gone. Say hello; richardsarles@hotmail.com

DKlopplDeborah L. Kloeppel: A mother of three from St. Charles, Missouri, and a published professional editor, freelance writer, and author. During the past fifteen years, my writing focus has been on children's items, education, and curriculum development with a side of short stories and historical fiction. More recent works include home how-to's, and The Photogenic Kitchen: a niche cookbook in progress. When not writing, I'm an in-depth editor helping guide and improve style, technique, and grammar for aspiring authors. LAdamsLincoln Adams:  cover design and illustrator living in Akron, Ohio with my wife, Dorothy, and daughters, Cicely and Naomi. I graduated with a BFA from the Cleveland Institute of Art in 1998, and in my early days, embellished stories and illuminated magazine articles as an illustrator.
